Recognizing the shift in consumer preferences, long-beloved brands like Heinz and Kraft partnered with notco and developed chickpea based vegan cheese with 3 varieties, American style, Cheddar style, and Provolone style.
Kraft NotCheese Slices are built using AI
The Kraft Heinz Not Company was established under the partnership between Kraft Heinz and Not Co last year on feb 2022. Through this joint effort, The Kraft Heinz Not Company combines its expertise with NotCo’s cutting-edge technology to drive the development of sustainable and delicious plant-based alternatives.
Kraft NotCheese Slices, a reimagined version of classic Kraft Singles, were crafted using NotCo’s revolutionary technology, known as “Giuseppe,” and feature water, coconut oil, modified corn starch, and chickpea protein as their primary components.
It made its debut in a limited-run test market in Cleveland, ohio last fall. The overwhelmingly positive response from consumers during the 16-week test market propelled the decision to expand nationaly. According to VegNews, the success of Kraft NotCheese Slices was evident as it soared to the top spot as the number one branded plant-based slice in terms of dollar sales.
It marks the second product release as part of the joint venture, following the successful introduction of NotMayo in March 2023. It is also the first product to be distributed nationwide on 7th july ( source : Vegan food and living ) since the partnership was announced in 2022,” stated Lopez-May, CEO of Kraft Heinz Not Company.
