Canadian Company Introduces Noochies Vegan Cat Treats – a North American First!

Errett is making a strong statement by claiming that their product, Noochies, is the first of its kind in North America, being a vegan treat for cats.

While the conventional wisdom dictates that cats require a diet rich in meat and should not be fed a vegetarian diet, CULT Food Science, a Canadian food technology investment platform, has defied this notion by announcing the creation of Vegan Cat Treats under the brand “Noochies.

Recent studies, backed by NGO ProVeg International, challenge the belief that cats must solely rely on animal-based nutrition. They indicate that a supplemented plant-based diet may improve feline health, potentially reshaping our understanding of cat nutrition to consider vegan options.

Noochies Vegan Cat Treats: world’s first

Joshua Errett, founder of Noochies, made a notable claim, asserting that Noochies! stands as the world’s first freeze-dried pet food, boasting high protein content and abundant nutrients, all while steering clear of factory farming practices. Interestingly, Noochies is not the sole pet food brand under the Cult umbrella. Cult has forged a partnership with Umami Bioworks to introduce Marina Cat a cultivated pet food brand.

Noochies was initially an asset of Biocraft, co-founded by Errett and CEO Shannon Falconer. After Errett left from the company, within a few months, Biocraft made the decision to sell off Noochies, aligning with their commitment to concentrate on cultivated meat. Errett then took ownership of Noochies and shared his vision for the future: “My vision for the future entails offering sustenance for our feline companions without resorting to the slaughter of other animals.”

CULT Food Science successfully tackled the challenge of taste by tapping into the extensive expertise of its yeast laboratory. They’ve created a unique yeast blend that stands out. This remarkable blend combines two essential components: nutritional yeast and fermented fungi, which they’ve named Bmmune ( cultured nutritional yeast ). This blend has been meticulously crafted to cater to the discerning palates of our cherished feline companions.

But it doesn’t stop at taste alone. This blend has been strategically engineered to offer high levels of protein, meeting the daily protein requirements of our pets. In addition, it provides significant doses of fiber, immune-boosting B vitamins, and gut-friendly fermented ingredients. The remarkable aspect is that all of this is achieved without the use of any animal-derived components.

This groundbreaking achievement was officially verified by Errett during a conversation with Green Queen, underscoring that the vegan cat treats are exclusively formulated using cultivated yeast. Significantly, there is absolutely no use of cultivated meat in the production of these treats, thereby upholding the steadfast commitment to offering a delightful and ethical snack option for our cherished furry friends.

In a 2022 survey conducted by The Vegan Society in the UK, it was revealed that 40% of cat owners who choose to feed their feline companions a plant-based diet do so because they believe it offers health benefits.
