Vegan Drink Company: The New Plant-Based Milk Brand in India

The Vegan Drink Company (VDC) marked its debut by launching a diverse range of plant-based milk options, which encompasses five varieties.

The plant-based milk market is thriving, with a value projected to reach US$59-244 million equals to (Rs. 459-1,889 crore indian rupees ). The increasing demand for dairy alternatives is fueled by factors such as lactose intolerance and a shift towards vegan diets. Approximately 68% of the population faces lactose intolerance, leading to a surge in the popularity of plant-based options like almond milk and soy milk, driven by health and environmental concerns.

When people switch to dairy alternatives, they often express concerns about the calcium content. However, it’s important to recognize that our reliance on milk isn’t solely due to calcium. This perception has been cultivated by marketing strategies to promote cow’s milk.

Eating well assures many plant-based foods, such as firm tofu, contain more calcium than low-fat cow’s milk. Yet, for those who prefer to obtain calcium from milk, there’s good news. VDC has fortified its plant-based drink range with calcium and other essential nutrients, ensuring a calcium-rich option in the realm of dairy alternatives. Many food products are fortified with essential minerals, addressing this need.

Plant-based milks are gradually entering the Indian market, offering a nutritious, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly alternative to cow and buffalo milk. Can VDC compete with others that have already been launched in India ?

Certainly, my answer is a resounding “yes.” India, with its staggering population of 1.5 billion people, currently boasts a vegan population of just 3%. This striking contrast highlights the substantial room for expansion and increased acceptance of veganism in India.

So there is room for everyone, and another factor in their favor is their success in popularizing plant-based milk in Nepal. Soon, it will demonstrate its potential in India as well. One compelling aspect is their appealing packaging, making it hard for anyone to resist purchasing after encountering it.

Their plant-based milks, as affirmed on their website, have the potential to revolutionize the market, as they can be seamlessly integrated into a wide range of culinary endeavors, mirroring the versatility of dairy milk. This advancement is significant for vegans and those seeking plant-based alternatives, as it enables them to confidently employ these milks in various applications, including heating, boiling, chilling, frothing, and substituting them for dairy in coffee, tea, and a plethora of culinary creations.
