After nearly eight years, Ben & Jerry’s is embarking on a significant shift for all its non-dairy ice cream selections mentioned above. The company is moving towards an oat-based recipe for its 19 vegan flavors and intends to incorporate oat milk into their offerings at both scoop shops and retail locations by Spring 2024. To initiate this transition, they’re beginning with modifications to two of their beloved classics: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

According to Ben & Jerry’s Flavor Guru Colleen Rossell, transitioning to oat milk presented a major challenge: maintaining the beloved creamy texture and rich flavor. Through extensive experimentation, they’ve successfully achieved this with oat milk, marking a key step in their commitment to sustainable plant-based ice cream.
