  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup roasted makhana / Fox nuts

How to make finger millet makhana smoothie

We won’t be using finger millet directly; instead, we’ll be using its roasted flour. If you have the flour on hand, dry roast it for a few minutes to enhance the flavors. This smoothie won’t be entirely raw, as we need to cook the finger millet with water until the desired thickness is achieved.

After cooking the finger millet, add a combination of nuts and dates to the blender. To ensure the ingredients are soft enough for blending, it’s advisable to soak the nuts and dates in water overnight or in hot water for a minimum of 2 hours before blending.

After letting the cooked finger millet cool down, put it in the blender along with soaked nuts, dates, and makhana powder (except sesame seeds). Blend until it’s smooth, like a meal. This makes a flexible option for replacing lunch or dinner.

You can add a finishing touch with sesame seeds and cocoa powder for a hint of chocolate flavor, but it’s also fine to leave it plain, especially since we’re not making it for selling purposes, right? For a lighter smoothie, feel free to add more coconut milk or half water.
